Programs Overview: Cross Cutting Policy Solutions

Our policy experts conduct research and coordinate multi-pronged strategies on major policy issues, including but not limited to the environment, wealth creation (asset building), philanthropy, health, energy, communications, government reform, and higher-education. Central to our work is the big picture recognition of the interrelatedness of issues to our constituency...for example, the ways in which housing affects health, which affects educational outcomes, which in turn affects our wealth, and so forth. Our primary programs are listed below.

Community Reinvestment

GOAL: Develop asset and wealth building opportunities for communities of color by engaging financial institutions and government on holistic asset building strategies.

Legal Advocacy: Consumer Empowerment

GOAL: Ensure that communities of color have a voice at influential regulatory bodies that oversee communications, insurance, and energy policy.

Green Assets

GOAL: Ensure that the growing "Green Economy" is equitable and provides opportunities for communities of color.

Bridges to Health

GOAL: Develop solutions that improve health for communities of color by addressing issues related to access to health care, affordable prescription drugs, and the need for more diversity in the health workforce.

Higher Education

GOAL: Partner with students to make California's public university more diverse and affordable.

Democratizing Philanthropy

GOAL: Ensure communities of color receive equitable treatment from philanthropic institutions.

Leadership Academy

GOAL: Develop the next generation of leaders that know how to work in diverse and collaborative environments utilizing 21st century tools.
